INNOVATION

“Everyone knew it was impossible, until a fool who didn’t know came along and did it.”

-Albert Einstein

What is innovation?

Innovation is the transformation of ideas into impact. Solutions to the hardest problems come from the intersection of disciplines.

UCCS Bachelor of Innovation Program

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs offers the Bachelor of Innovation (BI) family of degrees. Any BI degree includes core coursework on par with BA and BS degrees, and replaces elective classes with an Innovation Core and a Cross-Discipline Core.

Innovation Core

The Innovation Core teaches skills needed to commercialize ideas, including:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Technical/Grant Writing
  • Business Law

It also involves working in cross functional multi-disciplinary teams to carry out projects for real-world clients. The community benefits, and students get a chance to apply their learning and collaborate with people of all walks of life.

Cross-Discipline Core

The Cross-Discipline Core is a set of courses in a discipline different from the major, providing opportunities to learn about another discipline in the classroom.

Together, these components create an environment where students gain real-world experience while earning their degrees, view the world through many perspectives, and learn to be entrepreneurs.
